Introduction
Remote auditing has become standard practice. ISO 19011 provides guidance on using ICT to audit.
Planning
- Feasibility: Is the internet connection stable? Do they have digital records?
- Security: Is the platform (Zoom, Teams) secure?
- Time: Remote audits often take longer than on-site audits due to technology lag.
Conducting
- Interviews: Use video. Seeing body language is important.
- Document Review: Screen sharing or accessing a shared folder.
- Site Tour: Use a mobile camera (phone/tablet) to walk around. Ensure safety (don’t walk and look at a screen).
Challenges
- Limited View: You only see what the camera shows you.
- Engagement: Harder to build rapport.
- Fatigue: “Zoom fatigue” is real. Schedule frequent breaks.
